Healthcare product design
I designed dashboard and onboarding concepts for an early-stage digital-health company.
Context
The project
Tellescope focused on patient communication and patient-management operations. I worked with the team on health-analytics and onboarding experiences during Techstars' UnitedHealthcare accelerator, with the goal of presenting information more consistently across the product while keeping the visual style professional and approachable.
What I owned
My role
- Designed health-analytics dashboard concepts
- Designed patient-onboarding interface mockups
- Created consistent hierarchy, component, and visualization patterns across the concepts
- Iterated directly with the founders and prepared the work for engineering handoff
I worked directly with Tellescope's two founders, who set the product requirements and broad visual direction while giving me room to explore, design, and revise the interface details through handoff. As the product direction evolved, we agreed that continuing into implementation could create a potential conflict with my full-time role, so we concluded the engagement at that point.

The founders knew what information the product needed to show, but many interface details were still open. I turned their direction into dashboard and onboarding concepts that an engineering team could build, reusing hierarchy, components, and visualization patterns across the work and revising the designs with both founders before handoff.

Reflection
What I took from it
This was my first opportunity to think seriously about how hierarchy and consistency change the way people interpret dense information, rather than treating the interface as a presentation layer added after the underlying system was complete. I later applied that same thinking at Broad when I built an interface that combined clinical-review tracking data with pipeline results.
